Roundtable Invitation ILLIBERAL DEMOCRACIES

On Thursday, November 28, 2019, at 10:30h, at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb, Lepušićeva 6, Centre for Democracy and Law Miko Tripalo is organizing a roundtable on the topis of Illiberal Democracies.

Welcome words will be delivered by Josip Kregar, Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb and Centre Miko Tripalo, and Zoran Kurelić, Faculty of Political Science. The speakers are: Đorđe Gardašević, Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb; Holly Case, Brown University, The Institute for Human Sciences, Vienna, Austria; Tamara Ćapeta, Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb; Dragan Bagić, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb; Tihomir Ponoš, Novi list; Antonija Petričušić, Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb and Centre Miko Tripalo; Goran Čular, Faculty of Political Science; Goran Sunajko, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb and Centre Miko Tripalo; Hrvoje Zovko, Croatian Journalists’ Association.

The roundtable will bring together experts and public officials who will look at the issue of illiberal democracies from different perspectives. The primary focus will be on Croatia, with an aim to answer on two key questions: first, how illiberal tendencies have emerged in Croatia and, second, what can be offered as a solution. The participants will try to analyze the problem from comparative, international, political and public context.
