Centre for Democracy and Law Miko Tripalo awarded its annual Centre Miko Tripalo Award for 2010 on Thursday, 21 April 2011 at the Rectorate of the University of Zagreb. The Award was given to non-governmental organization GONG for its achievements in promoting democracy and political rights of citizens, as well as in contributing to implementation of free and fair elections.
Centre Miko Tripalo decided to confer this year’s award on GONG based on its activities and accomplishments over the past 14 years, which unequivocally established GONG as one of the key civil society organizations in Croatia, but also an indispensable factor in further democratization of Croatia. In doing so, GONG’s successes in the field of citizens’ rights and freedoms, transparency and fight against corruption, labor rights and freedom of the media, that are in accordance with Centre Miko Tripalo’s own goals, further consolidate the intention to give this year’s Miko Tripalo Award to GONG.
